Support Staff Opportunities
Make a Difference While Living Your Japan Adventure
Want to experience Japan beyond the tourist trail? Become part of our team in Hirakata and you’ll get to live like a local while helping run our international community house. You’ll be part of the daily operations while making friends from around the world and experiencing real Japanese life.
Everything you need to know
Enjoy comfortable private dorm-style rooms in our welcoming community house. Your accommodation includes all utilities, WiFi, and access to shared kitchen, living areas, and outdoor spaces.
OEH is perfectly located in Hirakata with excellent transportation connections. The nearest station is just a 10-minute walk away, with direct trains to Osaka (30 minutes), Kyoto (30 minutes), and Nara (45 minutes).
Your volunteer experience includes accommodation, orientation support, ongoing guidance, and access to all community activities, including Japanese classes. We also provide basic household items and kitchen facilities for shared meals.
Pack clothes appropriate for the season you'll be visiting (Japan has distinct seasons), comfortable walking shoes, personal toiletries, slippers for indoor use, a personal towel, and any electronics with appropriate adapters. We recommend bringing lightweight, versatile clothing as you'll likely want to shop for souvenirs!
The Working Holiday Visa is ideal for most volunteers, allowing extended stays and flexibility. Tourist visas work for shorter periods. We provide detailed guidance on visa requirements and can connect you with resources for paperwork assistance.
