Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly is Hirakata located in Japan?

Hirakata is strategically located in the heart of the Kansai region, positioned almost exactly between Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara. Situated in Osaka Prefecture at the northeastern border with Kyoto Prefecture, it serves as the perfect base for exploring multiple cultural destinations. Our accommodation is within a 10-minute walk from Hirakata Station, which is served by both the Keihan Main Line and JR Katamachi Line.

From Hirakata, you can easily reach all three major cultural centers with direct train connections. Downtown Osaka is just 30 minutes away on the Keihan Line, while central Kyoto can be reached in only 25 minutes by rapid express train on the same line. Nara is approximately 40 minutes by train with one transfer. All these connections run frequently throughout the day, making day trips convenient and efficient.

Staying in Hirakata offers several advantages: you’ll experience authentic everyday Japanese life in a residential area where few tourists venture, while enjoying significantly lower accommodation rates. The peaceful environment allows you to escape the crowds and hectic pace of tourist centers, yet major attractions remain easily accessible.
Additionally, Hirakata’s strategic location keeps you equidistant from Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara, giving you flexibility in your daily excursions without committing to any single city. Many guests tell us that staying here provided a more authentic perspective on Japanese life that would have been missed in heavily touristed areas.
