Why Choose OEH for Your Volunteer Experience?
Come to Hirakata, Japan’s best-kept secret for travelers
Cultural Immersion
You’re not staying in a hostel in Shibuya with other backpackers. You’re living in a real Japanese neighborhood where you’ll wave to the same people every morning.
Community
We’ve got volunteers from all over the world – we’ve had people from Germany, Brazil, China, and Canada (just to name a few) all living together. It’s like having instant travel buddies.
Strategic Location
This might be the best part – you can literally wake up and decide “Kyoto, Nara or Osaka today?” All are within 20-40 minutes away by train. And so much more to explore around!
Flexible Commitment
Whether you can stay for 3 weeks or 3 months, we’ll find volunteer work that fits your schedule. Working remote in the meantime? No worries, you’ll have plenty of time for that too.
About Osaka English House
Osaka English House has been around for over 60 years, starting as a boarding house for Japanese students. These days we’re primarily a guesthouse for international travelers, though we still do English classes. It’s become a place where people from all over the world live together and experience real Japanese neighborhood life – not the touristy stuff, but actual everyday life.
The location is incredible – Osaka and Kyoto are both 30 minutes away, Nara is 45 minutes. But the best part is living in an actual Japanese neighborhood where you can chat with local shop owners, join festivals, and see how people really live day-to-day.
At Osaka English House, we believe real connections make the best memories. We hope you’ll become part of our story.
